		<description>Aaron - when doing a squat, &lt;strong&gt;maintaining proper form&lt;/strong&gt; is the key regardless of whether or not you use weights.  The same is true when doing yoga.  I see patients who have seriously hurt their backs from weight lifting, doing yoga, or even just bending over to pick up a paper clip.  If you lose the curve in your lower back (the lumbar lordotic curve) during any activity, you are putting yourself at a great risk of injury.  The risk climbs as you place more load on the spine.  I do believe that weight lifting can be very safe for most people, however I do recommend avoiding overloading with excessive weights.  I recommend using a weight where the exercise can be performed from 12 to 15 times for 3 sets.</description>

I&#039;ve had a guy in the gym break his back with squats and deadlifts, he&#039;s suffering now so avoid this. Try swimming and yoga instead.</description>
